I get "Internal error" in a process Solidworks installation (Solidworks 2015 SP 2.1, Windows 7 x64 SP1). What is the reason? What Windows settings do I need to change?

Answer by Julia Bocchetta

According to various users on the Internet, there are two solutions for this error:

  1. If you attempt to upgrade or install another package, then the error is caused by other users who use the software in the same time. Close the application and try again.

  2. The other solution is to delete the SWBrowser.ldb from \lang\english.

We are having trouble trying to convert high resolution rendering in AutoCad 3D to a different format such as PNG to allow importing to Photoshop or other publishing program. Do you know of any tools that might be available?

Answer by Sean Hill

Both AutoCAD and Solidworks 3D support exporting to PSD. Go to the File > Export or FIle > Save as and choose PSD as file type. I have installed the latest version of AutoCAD in demo mode and I was able to save the content to a PSD file. Check the official website of Solidworks to learn more about exporting and features supported by the application.

SolidWorks uses SolidNetwork License Manager ("Start, All Programs, SolidWorks 2012, SolidWorks Tools") to generate the .lic file based on the registration data you have obtained from the company. You will need to use this tool to generate the file in order to use the program.

I am drawing runner (full round or trapezoid) and gates (sub or edge) which is tedious for me. Can you show me an easier way to put runners and gates into a multiple cavity mold? I spent more time on runners and sub gates than on the part.

Answer by Julia Bocchetta

There are tutorials you can use to learn how to add gates and runners to the multiple cavity molds already created within the SolidWorks application. To read those tutorials, access Google Search results. For example, you will learn how to create Runners in an easy way by visiting the first link listed on Google: How to Create Runners in SolidWorks Plastics
